How to apply to Discovery Roots
1. Learn
The first step is to contact us to learn more about Discovery Roots Academy. There are three ways you can do this. You can email the admissions coordinator at [email protected], complete the information request form via Google Forms, or submit an Inquiry Form on this website. Once we receive your request, we will send along our information packet that includes more information, daily schedules, topics of study for the current school year, and more. Once you review the packet, you can reach out to the admissions coordinator at [email protected] to set up a tour to see our learning spaces.
2. Apply
After your tour, you will receive an electronic copy of our admissions application. This application will allow you to share information about your child’s educational history, strengths and challenges, interests, and more.
At the application stage, we also ask that you share your child’s most recent progress report and any additional relevant records (such as evaluations). We also require a letter of recommendation, preferably from your child’s most recent educator. If you are unable to receive a letter of recommendation from your child’s most recent educator, we ask that you have an adult who is close to the child write the letter. The person who writes the recommendation should understand your child’s social, emotional, and academic skills and challenges. You can email completed forms and all relevant reports/letters to [email protected].
There is a non-refundable $50 application fee due after submitting your application. If you are applying for multiple students in your family, you will only need to pay one application fee.

3. Placement Assessment
When we receive a completed application (including fees and additional documentation), the admissions team will begin to evaluate placement options for your child. At this stage, we may request that you return with your child to visit our classrooms, especially if we have not met your child previously. During this visit, we may conduct a quick assessment of your child’s academic skills to assist with placement.
During the assessment stage, our admissions team may reach out to you with questions or to request additional information. Please respond within a reasonable amount of time so that we can move forward with your child’s application in a timely manner.
